Lou Poumakis was an electrical engineer which he practiced until his retirement in 2002 but was a serious student of God’s Word since his conversion in 1974. He was ordained as an elder in the Christian Reformed Church and later as a minister in the Federation of Reformed Churches. Early on, he was attracted to the work of R. J. Rushdoony at Chalcedon Foundation where he was introduced to Christian Reconstruction. This doctrine truly reflects a Biblical Christian faith with a dynamic that contrasted favorably with the passive outlook that predominated what he had seen elsewhere. Lou’s first book, Faith On Earth? is primarily based on information garnered from this dynamic source. Before writing Faith On Earth?, Lou published numerous articles relating principles from God’s Word to current events on his blog faithonearth.net.
Lou resided in South Florida and has two children, seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren in Florida and New Hampshire. His wife Joan and grandson Owen have been with our King since 2018. Lou went to see His Lord in August of 2024.
Lou’s son, Greg Poumakis, collaborated on this work while still engaged in his profession, which included: high tech finance, sales, and program management roles. Greg came to the faith in 1970 and attended American Heritage Christian School, Pensacola Christian College, and Dordt College where he learned at the feat of great educators, including: Kathryn Dang (a major force in home schooling), Dr. Rev E.L. Hebden Taylor, and like his father has studied the work of Dr. R. J. Rushdoony since the 1970s.
